Our Historical Publications 

There are a number of historical publications published in the name of Saint Margaret’s. They are: The Formative Years 1860-1861, Saint Margaret’s Anglican Church Eltham: Celebrating 150 Years, A History of Saint Margaret’s Church Eltham: Volume 1 The Foundation Years – beginnings to 1888 and A History of Saint Margaret’s Church Eltham: Volume 3 The Post-War Years 1945 to 2015.

The Formative Years 1860-1861

This small volume represents the first attempt to formally record the history of Saint Margaret’s. The author is unknown and long-term parishioners attest this was the authors wish. The history covers the two years beginning with the decision to build a permanent Church of England and culminating with its opening on the 12 December 1861. Saint Margaret’s Anglican Church Eltham; Celebrating 150 Years

The pictorial history book was authored by Dr Geoffrey A Sandy and was published as part of the 150th celebrations of the opening of Saint Margaret’s Church on 12 December 1861. A copy is held at the Eltham Branch of the Yarra Plenty Library. It can be purchased for $15 from the Parish Office by visit, phone or email.

A History of Saint Margaret’s Church Eltham: Volume 1 The Foundation Years – beginnings to 1888

Volume 1 is the first of a three volume history of Saint Margaret’s. Volume 3 has been published before Volume 2 for reasons explained in the book.
