Ladies Fellowship

The Ladies Fellowship has been meeting  since 1968 with most members originally part of the congregation of St Faith’s Montmorency.  Meetings are held in private homes but many fund raising functions, such as lunches with guest speakers are held in St Margaret’s Hall.
In 2009 over $2000 was raised with money distributed to Ronald McDonald House, a respite home in Tasmania, and autistic children in Victoria.  Not all activities are fundraisers: the ladies also go on trips to eg the Johnson Collection &  Patchwork shops in Warburton.

They meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month.

Community Involvement:

St Margaret’s  Charitable Trust
The St Margaret’s Eltham Charitable Trust was established on 30th September 1993 as a vehicle for parishioners of St Margaret’s Church to be able to support the local community and other worthwhile recipients and obtain tax deductions for their contributions. It frequently acts as a vehicle to raise funds for disaster relief which are forwarded to agencies providing such relief.

Anglicare Auxiliary
In 2009,  St Margaret’s parishioners were most distressed by the traumas of the many people in neighbouring areas who suffered losses in the catastrophic fires ,particularly  in nearby Kinglake- St Andrews in February 2009.  During the year two of our parishioners kept us up to date with news of how resilient many of the people were in their day to day living as well as in attempting to get plans ready for their houses to be rebuilt.

In October one of our parishioners talked with Cathy Lance who had formed a network called “Ladies of the Black Belt”  and it was decided that St Margaret’s parishioners  would be asked to donate  30 Christmas Puddings and Cakes for these ladies, many of whom had no kitchens nor equipment to cook.  The response was overwhelming,  with cakes, puddings and Melting Moments being made in time for Christmas festivities, 2009.
